I sewed! When Aimee posted this gorgeous tiki fabric on Spoonflower, I knew I wanted to do a Hawaiian shirt out of it.
At my friend Caitlin's suggestion, I used Simplicity 5581. I think the sizing runs big, so if you're not sure what size to make, I think I would size down. My husband is usually a solid medium and I think the resulting shirt is a little big - but on the other hand, Hawaiian shirts are often layered and are supposed to be roomy.
I found green vintage buttons in my stash to go with the mid-century color palette and theme. I'm really happy with how it turned out! I need to get better pics, but for now....
Costumes, accessories, jewelry, and art, made and bought. But not for sale!

Time Traveled Tales Kickstarter Launches!
Time for a literary post that is sort of related to Star Wars. Do you like the Expanded Universe authors? Because this anthology might be for you!
Silence in the Library
Publishing (of which I am a part), Kickstarter, and a host of renowned authors including names
like Aaron Allston, Michael A. Stackpole, and Timothy Zahn, are hoping to make the Time Traveled Tales Anthology available to a wider
audience.
Originally
released as a convention exclusive at the 2012 Origins Game Fair and
limited to 500 copies sold only at the convention, Time Traveled Tales
is a who's who of your favorite science fiction and fantasy authors
writing about time travel, the future, and contact with strange and
wonderful beings.
In
this Kickstarter limited edition, each story is beautifully illustrated
by renowned artist Matt Slay. Best known for his work for IDW's Teenage
Mutant Ninja Turtles Image Comics and several Upper Deck Marvel
projects (most recently Iron Man 3), Matt brings a realism and emotional
context to his illustrations that captures the spirit of each of the 19
stories in the anthology.
In
addition to illustrating every story in the anthology, we've developed
an amazing new cover that will look incredible on your bookshelf.
The
cover and illustrations are only a small portion of the exciting
surprises that are waiting for you when you visit the Time Traveled
Tales Kickstarter project page. Please join us and become a part of the Time Traveled Tales journey by visiting http://www. kickstarter.com/projects/ 103879051/time-traveled-tales- a-speculative-fiction-antholog and contributing today!

Curtain-along, painting style!
For my birthday today, my Mom did a little costume painting of my curtain-along gown! I love it! She's done such a great job on these, especially since detail is hard to render on non-watercolor paper! And look at the fabric pattern she painted on this one!
Thanks, Mom!
Thanks, Mom!

Dress U - Sunday
Here are my other pics from Sunday at Dress U!
We started out with breakfast at the Classic Diner again. I wish I'd taken a picture of the enormous bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich I'd had the previous day...

My Curtain-along outfit at Dress U
I wore my "curtain-along" gown Sunday at Dress U for the Mad Hatters tea, along with the hat I bought from Linda last year at Dress U.
I loved seeing everyone's curtain fabric outfits - they were all really different. Mine is a jacket with a ruffled peplum, with a ruffled petticoat.
Here are a bunch of pics!
I liked these four that Isabella got:
