Two vintage buckles

A couple pieces I got ages ago - two very different looking vintage buckles. I believe both were ebay purchases, neither expensive.

 

Cameos from over the years...

Here are a bunch of cameos I've picked up on ebay over the years.  Some cameo, some painted. None particularly expensive.

20s or 30s Paste Necklace

I just won this on ebay for $46 which I think is a good price. It's a sterling paste necklaces from the 20s or 30s.  And nearly 18" in length, which is a good size for me. I'll probably end up using it with 18th century or regency stuff since it's collet-y.

Isn't it pretty? It's from one of my new fav vintage/antique jewelry sellers, nalfie.  They have really nice stuff. (Thanks Taylor!)  I nicked their ebay pics since I don't have it yet.

Vintage Tiara

So I bought this tiara from the UK on ebay a while ago - it was likely a link Kat posted (she is my favorite tiara enabler!). It was so pretty and it turned out to have an interesting provenance.

I emailed the seller to see if she knew about about and she told me this:

The Tiara belongs to a neighbour who is a dairy farmer it has been in her family for as long as she can remember and belonged to her grandmother that would date it to around 1900 to 1920 it is silver plate on copper so that would be around the correct date perhaps earlier that silver on copper was used and also tortoiseshell.

She cannot remember anyone in the family wearing the Tiara, she is in her late sixties. There was a time when the farming community held regular farmers balls. And ladies used to dress up really elegantly so the Tiara was most likely used for this. 

I wore it for a Jane Austen ball.

Dallas Fort Worth - Thistle Hill

I was lucky enough to get the chance to visit my DFW friends for a costume weekend!

Lesa picked me up, we headed to Ginger's house to change, and then met up with everyone at Thistle Hill, a 1904 Georgian Revival house in Fort Worth, TX.

We did a variety of costumes - some of us did vintage (Ginger and Jen were 1930s), I only had 60s vintage - I wore the dress Magpie Jen found that is really similar to one Peggy wore on Mad Men - and kind of had a Scooby Doo thing going. Others were superheros.







We did a "flashlight tour" which means we spent more time behind the scenes than seeing the nice parts of the mansion. It was pretty cool going "behind the scenes".

I scored two more Maggie Victorian name pins off ebay, coincidentally off the same seller:

I really like the first one - it's different than anything else I have. It's actually really small and pretty, and I was really pleased with it.  Pics are from the ebay auctions.

I got this paste silver heart a little while ago from one of my favorite sellers, Mary Fine. It's really pretty and I wear it a lot.

I'm not sure of the age of this one and it's delicate, but it wasn't very expensive. I believe Kat was the one who tempted me with the link the ebay auction. ;-)

I got this one on ebay for under $5.  It's kind of cute. :-)

Still more vintage/antique clothes

Here is a blue gown, also circa 1915 - it's in rougher shape than the pink one and cost less than $10!  The trim is really interesting, as is the construction.

Maybe my favorite find from the antique shop is this pink dress, also circa 1915.  It has some damage, but it's SO pretty and has lots of lovely little details. It cost less than $20.

When I visited my parents last weekend, we went to one of my favorite antique stores.  I ended up leaving with a whole slew of vintage and antique garments for a really good price!

I took some pics - just laying the garments flat out.  I'll break up the images into a few posts probably too.

First up, this white dress, circa 1915. I paid about $26 for it - it's in really good condition.

Vintage pin

I found this picture (I should really take my own) on a pin I got on ebay four years ago.  I think I only paid 20-25 bucks for it and it's really heavy and nice quality.  Much prettier than the picture. :-)

Ebay purchases!

I've gotten a bunch of things on ebay for good prices lately!

I just got this in the mail today and it's SO pretty! It's Victorian 35" necklace, probably glass.

I've been collecting those Victorian name pins that say "Maggie". In my searches, this little sweetheart pin kept coming up.  It was $4.99 and I couldn't let poor Shirley & Don go homeless.  It makes you wonder what happened to them, whether they broke up or not.

Speaking of Maggie pins, I won this jet "Maggie" pin (it hasn't come yet). It was a little more, though less than I paid for some of the silver ones.  Not sure of  date on it, other than "Victorian."

A few ebay buys

I'm a bad cycle of buying stuff on ebay/etsy on a whim.  Here are a couple of cool things I got recently! They were all bought from Coffee Colored Cadillac, who gets a range of really interesting stuff!  Go check her out!

I'm also using her pics just to save myself time - plus they show off the items nicely.

The first is this adorable "Edwardian" apron which I thought I could cheat and use with other things.  The pics don't do it justice, it's SO sweet and the embroidery is so pretty.  The stitching on the back side makes the bows look pink. And I only paid $20.

1960s "Peggy" dress

My friend Magpie spotted this dress on ebay and I won it, and it fits, yay! It's really really close one Peggy wore on Mad Men.  I need to buy the right 60s undergarments now.  Magpie sent me a ton of useful info, so I will go back and look at that. :-)
