It was 20 years ago today...

Apparently this was in my drafts and I never published it, so here you go! This is from, well, several years ago, and several visits ago now!

---------

I recently went to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The last time I was there, the Beatles exhibit was being renovated, so I didn't get to see John Lennon's Sgt Pepper suit, the one thing I really wanted to see.  Well, this time not only did I get to see it, but they are now allowing photographs. So I have a whole slew of photos to add to my research page!

Excited!

Here they are:

The Return

The Return just posted this pic, which I stole, of them playing in Switzerland, wearing the Pepper suits my friends and I made for them. I always get a thrill seeing them! (The suits and the band both!)

If you can ever catch these guys playing, you should - they're awesome!

Beatle shirts

Several years ago I made these shirts inspired by Beatle suits for my band, when we played a Beatles themed gig.  I don't have pics of the other Pepper ones in progress, but you get the idea! :-)

Pepper Costumes

It's always fun to see the Sgt Pepper costumes Jess, Janine, and I made for The Return.

Adam just tweeted this pic:

Janine and I finally got to see the suits in action recently, when The Return played locally.

After the show I was finally able to fix the medals on Richard's John costume - they were sewn on the wrong stripe. Probably because we had had to rush getting these costumes done and it was probably 4am when they were sewn on! It always bothered me, though no one else had any idea they were wrong. But I knew! So, fixed. :-)

Sgt Pepper Beatles costumes for The Return

As a favor to our friends, The Return, Jess, Janine and I agreed to help them out with some Sgt Pepper costumes. PLEASE don't ask - this is the only time we will do this. (If you need a costume, there is info on where to get one on the top of this page.) Jess did the sewing of the suits and Janine and I did the buying of trims, fabric, and accessories - and I made way too many macramed lanyards. Over the 4th of July 2009, I headed down to Atlanta to meet up with the girls so we could do a final fitting on the band and check out their concert, and then spend the next 24 hours sewing on trim.

There are a few things I'd like to fix here or there (I need to move John's medals down a stripe), but overall, I think they turned out well!

Beatles Sgt Pepper John Lennon

My friend J-9 and I decided to do Sgt Pepper costumes and so I did a lot of research on them.  We immediately claimed John and Paul. And then our friends Y and J got on board, and as it happened, their fav Beatles were still up for grabs, so it worked out really well!  We all made our own costumes.

(No, I don't sell or make custom Pepper outfits, but I know someone who does. Check out the info at the top of my research page: http://costumersguide.com/cr_pepper.shtml
