Riversdale 12th Night Ball

A bunch of us went to the 12th Night Ball at Riversdale (which included supper) and it was as delightful as last year! I was going to make something new but I just wasn't able to get enough time for it. But I realized I had a drawstring dress with a purple sari with peacocks on it, that I had only worn once to a card party and didn't really have pictures of. So I wore that, a new necklace and fan by In the Long Run (https://www.etsy.com/shop/inthelongrun), my tiara by TheMillineress (https://www.etsy.com/shop/TheMillineress), my antique citrine earrings.

I also did make something new, a Georgian/Regency cloak - which I made using the Laughing Moon pattern. (http://www.lafnmoon.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=P135&CartID=1) I used non-period accurate dupioni that I had in the stash. I interlined it with a blanket fabric I had on had for warmth. And I didn't have a ton of the dupioni so I only used it to line the hood, and I used a dotted cotton to line the body of it.

I love seeing Riversdale all lit up! It was way warmer than last year, no snow/ice on the ground.

Regency Card Party, part 1

I've been out almost all day yesterday (with the parents and at a Superbowl party) and am so behind. I see a whole bunch of people posted pics from the card party, but I will have to look at them later!

I wanted to put up the pics I took, but I'll probably have another post tomorrow with some pics from my Mom's camera that I didn't have time to look at yet.

Anyway, Jenny-Rose threw a lovely card party with period food and I had so much fun seeing everyone, taking Kat around the party on a laptop via Facetime, and meeting new people! (Hey Kristin and Jessica, I remembered your names!) (I'm terrible at remember names.) :-)

Kat was convalescing and not able to join us in person, but she dressed up in a regency gown and tiara and joined us via Skype or Facetime! 2013-02-03 19.16.43

Me and Kat - she "played" whist with us for a while and then we took her on a tour of Jenny-Rose's new sewing room. You can almost make out my little moon/arrow regency comb!

Regency Peacock Sari drawstring gown

I made something else! I had this silk sari in my stash for a while - it has embroidered peacocks all over it and gold stamping.  I thought it would be really cute as a little simple drawstring dress.  The fabric is slightly stiff and a little bit sheer.  (I also washed it before using it.)

I didn't put my stays on the form again, but here are a few quick pictures of it!  (Also, it's kind of a blue purple, but the pics came out a little redder or yellower than it is in real life.)
