20s tea

Just wanted to quick share this little painting my mom did from a pic from a holiday tea a few years ago!   I did go to AwesomeCon in June and my friend Gloria and I wore our League of Their Own costumes - but I have been lax on the sewing. Just too much going on in real life right now - and I'm still in this slump I guess. :-(

Outlander painting

Here's my mom's little painting of Doug and I from the Outlander tea from earlier this month. Keep in mind this is done in a book that isn't made of watercolor paper and it's really small!

A League of Their Own

(this was the perfect color, but probably should have been thicker.)

patches: My friend Laura was kind enough to embroider them for me with her embroidery machine. But you can sometimes find them on Etsy.  Like this seller. This one has the embroidery pattern.

pattern: I bought this one on Etsy and it worked really well. It's pretty accurate. If I did it again, I'd take out some of the blousiness in the lower back. shoes: My softball shoes, so I didn't buy them.

bloomers: I used this stuff for the bloomers and for the number on the back since they looked shiny to me and they looked like a darker red. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00EAXFAJ4/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I used a modified harem pant pattern I had for my Bespin Leia pants.

Regency Ball costume painting

So I went to a Jane Austen ball and I have not yet had time to post pictures - but my Mom did a little painting of me, which is so cool!  I love it!

Costume Painting

My mom did another little miniature of me, which is super sweet. I love it! It's the spencer I wore to the holiday tea!

Gatsby

My mom did two little 20s paintings. The top one is of a photo from the Eight-Thirteen ball I went to - the other is from the Gatsby party I went to at DragonCon!

Curtain-along, painting style!

For my birthday today, my Mom did a little costume painting of my curtain-along gown!  I love it!  She's done such a great job on these, especially since detail is hard to render on non-watercolor paper!  And look at the fabric pattern she painted on this one!

After I sent my mom a pic of me in the fluffy white dress holding our fluffy white cat, she painted this little painting for me!

I'm so behind on everything! But I wanted to post this painting my mom did of Katherine. My mom really loved Katherine's (aka Koshka-the-cat) outfit and pose here. :-)

Another little costume painting!

I was showing my mom some Costume College pics on LJ and she was really taken with the cute pic of Koshka-the-cat in her 20s bathing suit. I think it turned out adorable!

Another mini costume painting

My mom did another small costume painting in her sketch book. This one is based on Jen Thompson and her fun 1790s outfit from the Mad Hatter's Tea I went to in January!

More costume art

I haven't had much time for sewing lately, but I do have some more costume art.  My mom just finished this lovely painting based on the sari gown I wore to Dress U.  (It's supposed to based on Regency fashion plates, but it does look pretty 1910's as well...)
