Time Traveled Tales 2

Time Traveled Tales 2 is out! I'm really excited about this. As you might remember back a ways, I posted about the Time Traveled Tales anthology, which included Star Wars authors like the now late Aaron Allston, as well as Mike Stackpole and Tim Zahn. And me! There are both print and e-book, and the indiegogo link is just being used as an easy way for pre-orders. There's no funding goal and the ebooks will go out right away and the print not long after that.

What is a Kickstarter, you ask?

A Kickstarter for an anthology is really just a way of taking pre-orders in order to have enough money to get the book printed. $5 will get you the e-book, and as we meet the stretch goals, you'll end up with a whole slew of "free" stuff just for that $5 pledge. There are all kinds of other tiers that will get you a paperback book or art prints (we have awesome artists working on this project and each story is getting illustrated). There are actually a ton of cool things to feature about this project, like the aforementioned artists, our awesome authors and the fact that we have one of only two female space shuttle commanders (Pam Melroy) writing the foreword.

Silence in the Library Publishing has partnered with a host of renowned authors including names like Mary Robinette Kowal, Gail Z. Martin, Jean Rabe, Sherwood Smith, and many others in a new Kickstarter project titled Athena's Daughters.

Athena’s Daughters is a collection of short fiction from some of the best female science fiction and fantasy authors in the industry. This anthology features stories written by women about women. The introduction to the anthology is being written by retired astronaut and Space Shuttle Commander Pam Melroy.

The publisher, Silence in the Library, believes strongly in the concept of bringing the artistry back to publishing. To that end, every anthology they produce features illustrations for each and every story.

Additionally, Silence in the Library Publishing believes that any good project should contribute something to improving the human community. In keeping with that goal, a portion of every book sold will go to RAINN. RAINN (Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network) is the nation's largest anti-sexual violence organization. RAINN created and operates the National Sexual Assault Hotline in partnership with more than 1,100 local rape crisis centers across the country and operates the DoD Safe Helpline for the Department of Defense. RAINN also carries out programs to prevent sexual violence, help victims and ensure that rapists are brought to justice.

War of the Seasons & Athena's Daughters

Time for a short break from costumes for something peripherally related.

Lots of big doings for Silence in the Library Publishing! The first thing is fellow costumer Janine Spendlove's Kickstarter for her fantasy trilogy, War of the Seasons. In the interest of full disclosure, I was a beta reader on all three books (that's right, I've already read the unreleased 3rd book!) and she's one of my best friends, and I just so thrilled for her success.  Her trilogy and all the associated short stories are so great.

If you haven't read the first two books - this Kickstarter is your chance to get all three books in either paper or e-book.  ($5 gets you the e-book for the 3rd bok, $15 gets you the whole trilogy on e-book! And both of those contributions will get you cool free stretch goal stuff. After War of the Seasons, in December 2013-January 2014, we'll be doing a Kickstarter for a SF/Fantasy anthology called Athena's Daughters. This anthology features stories written by women about strong female protagonists, with artwork by a woman - and edited by Jean Rabe. We're really excited for it. We have a lot of great authors lined up including Mary Robinette Kowal, Sherwood Smith, Gail Z. Martin, Janine Spendlove, and rising talents like Melanie Clegg, Ginger Breo, Conley Lyons. And me!  I'll post more on this as we get closer.  I've read a few of the stories submitted already and they're fantastic.

Time Traveled Tales Kickstarter Launches!

Time for a literary post that is sort of related to Star Wars. Do you like the Expanded Universe authors? Because this anthology might be for you!

Silence in the Library Publishing (of which I am a part), Kickstarter, and a host of renowned authors including names like Aaron Allston, Michael A. Stackpole, and Timothy Zahn, are hoping to make the Time Traveled Tales Anthology available to a wider audience.

Originally released as a convention exclusive at the 2012 Origins Game Fair and limited to 500 copies sold only at the convention, Time Traveled Tales is a who's who of your favorite science fiction and fantasy authors writing about time travel, the future, and contact with strange and wonderful beings.

In this Kickstarter limited edition, each story is beautifully illustrated by renowned artist Matt Slay. Best known for his work for IDW's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Image Comics and several Upper Deck Marvel projects (most recently Iron Man 3), Matt brings a realism and emotional context to his illustrations that captures the spirit of each of the 19 stories in the anthology.
