We started out with breakfast at the Classic Diner again.  I wish I'd taken a picture of the enormous bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich I'd had the previous day...

My Curtain-along outfit at Dress U

I wore my "curtain-along" gown Sunday at Dress U for the Mad Hatters tea, along with the hat I bought from Linda last year at Dress U.

I loved seeing everyone's curtain fabric outfits - they were all really different.  Mine is a jacket with a ruffled peplum, with a ruffled petticoat.

Dress U - Saturday Night

After dinner at Wegman's Doug, Isabella, and Gloria and I stopped at a cupcake store, because cupakes.  They had mini ones that were yummy!

My Princess Caroline sacque at Dress U

I got a bunch of new pics of my Princess Caroline sacque at Dress U - I think I should have pinned it tighter since it's wrinkling in the front, but that's ok. ;-) (I swear, someday I will stop noticing everything wrong with my costumes!) Sacques are always fun to wear, especially when they're really fluffy!

I wore this to the court dinner at Dress U on Saturday night. Everyone looked SO amazing. I'll have pics of Saturday Night at Dress U up next.

Dress U - Friday & Saturday afternoon

I had SUCH a good time at Dress U last weekend. Thank you so much to Victoria Arrington for organizing it. She did amazing job again, and I hope she knows much she appreciates the effort it takes. Dress U was way smaller this year, which was good and bad.  It was much more low key - and given how tired I was from a music festival I'd been to the weekend before, that wasn't bad. Also, it was a lot easier to get to know some of the new people, and I felt like we all got a lot of quality time with each other.  Also, everyone looked fantastic all weekend.

It was so nice to finally meet Vanessa! I loved her giant hat (which she wore onto the plane!).  And her dress was really pretty!

Dress U, part 1

I had a fabulous time at Dress U - but things have been so crazy since then I haven't really had time to post about it. I guess that's what happens when you take 3 trips in a row! First, I can't believe it actually happened! I'm so impressed (and grateful to) Victoria for organizing it. She really followed through with our Costume Con scheming and I think she did an amazing job. We had about 80 people show up and for a first time Con, that's pretty awesome. All the events were super fun, the hotel was pretty comfy and there were lots of restaurants near it. I know it wasn't super convenient for people flying in, which was one downside. Also there were way too many "muggles" staying at the hotel. And with so few of us, it was a little weird wandering around in costume. I had some old guy say that I'd better hurry or I'd miss my steamboat. o_O And then they wondered why I didn't want to hold the elevator for them. The best part of course was hanging out with friends and meeting some great new people! So, thank you again, Victoria! And hopefully we will do this again next year! Dress U

Some of you may have heard about Costume College, a great Con on the west coast where you can learn about different topics in costuming from experienced costumers - and also wear your own pretty costumes and meet like-minded people. We are organizing a similar costume conference on the East Coast, called "Dress U". The lovely Victoria has done a great deal of work, and it's really happening! She found a fantasic hotel in Philly that looks like they are excited to have us there. The conference will be June 1-4, 2012. All costumers are welcome (though PG rated costumes are requested).
