I'm terribly belated on this post, sorry!
A few weeks ago, Gloria, Mike, Amber and I went to the 1780s "Hair Ball" at Gadsbys Tavern in Alexandria, VA. We had such a fun time!
I wore my red and white striped gown, which I love and I'd only worn one other time before. I also wore my miniature of my "18th century boyfriend," courtesy of Stephanie's mom, Victorian repro star necklace, and my Sweet Romance bow/rhinestone earrings. Which you can't really see.
Wrinkles! Oh well.
I kitted Amber out, but we're proportioned differently and I didn't have time to tailor the gown, so please forgive that it's too big on her!
We all met for dinner at the Columbia Firehouse in Alexandria and the food was SO good. I had seared scallops and this amazing squash soup with pomegranite seeds.

Here's a couple (Alexa and Clayton) we met who had awesome costumes:
Gloria's photo:
At the Jane Austen ball, they had a hedgehog shaped thing of dip. They had one this time, but it had a big Marie Antoinette wig on it!
This guy had a great costume - and even had a shackle on one ankle!
Live music!
This couple had amazing paper wigs!
This lady had the best hair - she had George Washington on his horse on the front, and Thomas Jefferson and the Declaration of Independence on the back!
Here's better photos from Hancock:

Glynnis - we didn't know she would be there, so that was a nice surprise:

Love this shot of me and Gloria - we're both holding fans she made:
The photos are amazing! You all look beautiful! I can't wait to go to a fully costumed ball like that one day! It would be amazing! I really need some more dresses too! Your friend looks great too, you can hardly tell the dress is a little wrong in size, and it is a splendid dress!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much! It was such a cool event! And thanks for your kind words on my friend too. :-)
DeleteNice videos! I also just noticed you had red shoes... it's killing me. I need a better pair than my boring black leather ones!
ReplyDeleteAlso, does your friend Glynnis have a website as well? I loved her gown and would love to see her other projects :)
Hi - thanks! They are American Duchess shoes - I really like them! I don't know if Glynnis has a website - I couldn't easily find it, sorry!
